Roughmoor JOG
Spring season begins
Angela Modica's debut event as a JOG course planner was really well supported, quite a surprise as the weather was miserable. The courses took in a relatively new area, Roughmoor, with the longer courses spilling out onto Longrun and the surrounding streets.
Yoxter & Dartmoor
Two regional events
Not only did JOG start again but there were four regional events nearby this weekend! There were two events on the Mendips. On Sunday, there was a choice between Dartmoor or Wiltshire woodland.

Forest League
Young Wood preview
We have a new venue for our third Forest League event of the season and everything still to play for in the league. With three scoring runs still available, people who haven't run yet could still win in each of the seven leagues.
Smartphone course

The existing permanent course at Taunton's Longrun has been upgraded to include Quick Response (QR) codes, which are readable by smartphones. Map
Festive period
Event reviews
We may not have had an event during the Christmas/ New Year period, but there were some other races attended by QO members. Some were prepared to travel far and wide to get their fix, with some mulled wine and Christmas themed quizzes thrown in for good measure.
Maps are changing
New symbols
The way things are mapped has changed. A useful pictorial guide by Berkshire OC explains the effect of the new mapping standards.
Christmas message
from the President
A very big thank you to all the members and friends of Quantock Orienteers who have worked so hard during 2017 to make such a thriving club.
Wells event
Urban & woodland
A novel offering from Bristol OK - two forest-based courses and two urban courses - attracted 16 members and JOGgers to north Somerset to what was the last race to be held locally before Christmas
Last Club Night of term
Presentation & after dark run
We finished the term in
style at the COACH club house - about 20 folk ventured out on a festive night event in French Weir Park.
First Aid course
at club night
Craig Sutton gave 15 club members an interesting and entertaining evening introducing aspects of First Aid appropriate for orienteers on Thursday.

Cothelstone Hill JOG
It was bitterly cold but dry day for the last JOG of the Autumn Term. Richard Sansbury planned some excellent courses using the area well to test competitor's skills at each level.
