Weekend review
28/29 October
Storm Brian left its mark again, this weekend moving further down the coast to Cornwall. Holywell Bay was put on a Yellow (and green) alert, with Brian Fletcher reaching dangerously high speeds and blowing away the competition. Further east, Andrew Page achieved second place at the Cambridge city race.

Thurlbear JOG
A higher than expected crowd descended on this ancient wood, with new folks from last week's Come and Try It returning for more action and QO member Matt Carter bringing a mini bus load of school children to try out our sport

SW League (1 of 9)
Several QO members competed in what was mainly marshy rough open terrain in the New Forest on Sunday. In the first south west league fixture of the season, both Brian Fletcher and Tony Hext opened their accounts with solid performances.

Those visiting us for the first time, we enjoyed showing you the ropes and welcome you back this coming Saturday, when our session will be at Thurlbear Wood, this time to the east of Taunton.

Quantock Orienteers are hosting a 'Come and Try It' afternoon at Silk Mills park 'n' ride, Taunton on Saturday 7 October. There'll be plenty of time for our experienced orienteers to take you round a course and show you the ropes. Flyer, Further details

Our junior group got the chance to rub shoulders with some seasoned runners from throughout the UK, with the latest JOG session taking place during the Long O score at a beauty spot on the Quantocks on Saturday

Staple Hill JOG

Our first JOG of the new season up was on a bright, warm day on the Blackdowns, with good views from the top. It attracted almost as many people as our first forest league event the previous week!

Welcome evening
for new Club Night series
Our first Club Night of the season at Taunton's COACH centre provided training for the juniors in adjacent parkland and a series of presentations for seniors in doors. Steve Robertson's Photo O competition provided novelty and a real challenge for those brave enough to have a go
