To illustrate the breadth of ages taking part on Bill's course, consider that two minutes ahead of Bill in 5th place was a girl seven decades his junior!

Our club has previous form on the SW league's Light Green course which Martin leads, with Luke Shopland winning in 2016 and Angela Modica champion in 2013.

Predicting the series winner can be a very difficult task. Much depends on whether some of the bright young things turn up for the last three events! An individual's failure to run at least three events during the series means their league points are expunged. Scores are then recalculated for each event they run in, of particular benefit to those finishing some way behind the (now former) runaway leader.

Stand by for an end-of-season cliff-hanger on most courses then...all, except Brown, which has already been won by Devon's Ben Chesters!

Steve Robertson and Tony Hext are both still in the Top 10 of their respective leagues. Their consistent form in the South West League continued, with both finishing midway down the field on Blue and Green respectively. Both were bouncing back in style, Steve from a below-par run at Ham Hill and Tony from the physical effort of Saturday when he controlled that same event. Steve's blip on no.12 is discussed in more detail elsewhere (link)!

Four other members of the Lewis clan were at Dur Hill besides Martin. Karen carried on where she left off on Saturday, finishing halfway down on Orange, which puts her 4th in the league and earned her her first navigation award from British Orienteering.

Ollie and Annabelle also did very respectably on Yellow. Ollie finished within eight minutes of the winner and is now third in the league. Annabelle was three quarters of an hour in front of the last placed finisher. Issy was also there, and promoted herself to Orange from Yellow.

Wessex OC were the organisers.
