pre-JK action
Dartmoor, Bath & Lyneham
Several members booked themselves in for a spa treatment this weekend... Bath Spa University was the venue for some fast-paced orienteering action on Saturday. Then on Sunday, lucky members who made the trip to Dartmoor's Fernworthy Forest were treated to some glorious early spring weather
JOG awards & MapRun
Score challenge then social
Twenty five members, some with headtorches others hoping to get back by nightfall, took part in part in our latest course with 'invisible controls'. Afterwards, excellent achievements during the JOG season just gone were recognised with awards presented by our club president.
Club nights: reviews
Spring 2018
The Sport England funded project ran for eight weeks from Taunton's COACH building. The proejct covered a variety of training courses, workshops talks plus an experiment with courses with GPS-enabled courses on neighbouring terrain.
JOG review
Spring term 2018
A list of all the Saturday JOG sessions just gone, with links to the reviews and photographs for each event
Sheila's paintings
Club house lent artwork
Our club house has just been jazzed up with some artwork provided by a club member. Inspired by natural scenes, Sheila Braine's paintings seem to have filled a void in the pristine if somewhat stark Park Room at the COACH building.
JK 2018
This weekend
Good luck to the dozen members who are off to the West Midlands for the annual Easter weekend festival. You can catch up with the daily action via the JK website.
Next Club Night
JOG awards & MapRun
Before the JOG presentations on Thursday, there is another opportunity to try out MapRun, this time using a significantly updated map of the Longrun, Roughmoor and North Town areas of Taunton! Contact Roger and Judy Craddock to register your interest.
South West summer relays
2018 preview
The last relays of the series is Devon's, set in the landscaped grounds of Killerton House NT. We have teams pre-entered but there will also be entry on the day available to individuals to run a score event Devon OC say is 'great for newcomers and improvers'.
Wind Down JOG
Back in action
Strong easterly winds and snow was forecast so we were amazed that nearly 40 people turned up to run at Wind Down. Pete Shirvington planned some excellent courses on his first attempt as a JOG planner.
Wanted, please!
Old smartphones
Got an old smartphone tucked away in a drawer or cupboard? Want to give it a new lease of life? The club are looking for unwanted smartphones, as long as they have GPS chips, to ensure MapRun is open to allcomers.
St Audries - helpers
Galoppen & Yvette Baker heat
We are expecting a large turnout for this event on Sunday 8 April and so putting it on will be a club-wide effort! Please help the organisers get a team together by looking through the list of jobs and indicating what you might be able to do.
First Aid course

Devon OC are offering a day-long training course with a focus on orienteering incidents. Resulting in an Emergency First Aid at Work qualification, the course will run from Ilsington Village Hall, in between Bovey Tracey and Hay Tor on Dartmoor.

A productive and enjoyable evening was had by a mixture of novices and experienced users who buddied up to follow written tutorials for Purple Pen, the club's chosen course planning software
Compass Sport race
Event cancelled
Unfortunately we have decided to postpone the Compass Sport Cup heat.
Following a ground inspection on Wednesday (7 March), there was clearly no chance of the event going ahead as planned.
