Purple Pen course
At Club Night
A productive and enjoyable evening was had by a mixture of novices and experienced users who buddied up to follow written tutorials for Purple Pen, the club's chosen course planning software
Before coming to the evening, people were asked to follow the course design by Neil Crickmore of Southdowns OC (there's a link to this document in our Planners' section too).
On the evening, John Fisher introduced everyone to the concept behind the software and how to investigate its possibilities. A mixture of experienced PP users and novices meant that everyone fell into the role of tutor or pupil.
People worked together to follow “Exploring PP” written by Dave Holmes for a course he ran several years ago with updates by Jim Mallinson. In this Dave introduces a systematic approach to the software, with step by step assistance and examples to be worked, delightfully peppered with “Trick” solutions! Looking at the photos it’s obvious that collaboration and concentration levels were impressive!
It proved a productive and enjoyable evening, with particular thanks due to those who came to assist with tutoring. John Fisher, Andy Rimes, Chris Philip, Jim Mallinson, Jeff Pakes.
