Devon Moorland League
Bill & Martin win
Devon OC's series is no test for the faint hearted, set mainly on Dartmoor during the winter months with plenty of mist, rain and wind. Well done then to Bill Vigar (Short Green) and Martin Lewis (Light Green) for winning their leagues!
Mendips event
Win for Janet
If Bristol club's Sunday event was a short hop for many of the two dozen QO attending, it was practically on the doorstep of two of our top performers, one of whom was new member Janet Scott who won the Long Orange course
Ashclyst Forest
Back to the woods
Seventeen of us made the short hop south to Devon OC's event and took on some physical but partly runnable terrain. Contrasting nicely with the open though rather featureless St Audries last week, there was a maze of earthbanks and numerous point features.
Yvette Baker Trophy
St Audries qualifier results
After a pregnant pause in announcing the results so large it would put most prime time TV game or talent shows to shame, we can finally, officially, without further ado, pronounce "...and the winner is..."

Mendip Hills event
This Sunday Bristol OK has an event at Black Down - nothing to do with the range of hills we use. Its on open hillside with an extensive path network and dozens of individually mapped trees...and it has a curious past.
Retr-O event
St Audries 1970
To show how far orienteering has developed, Gavin Clegg takes a peak down memory lane to his first ever orienteering event at the same venue we used on Sunday but nearly half a century later
Armchair event
St Audries Photo-O
Fancy another run up at St Audries? OK, a virtual run. Have you tried out Steve Robertson's photo-O challenge? The terrain looked a little different over the summer when the event was being planned- not quite as runnable!
JK 2018
West Midlands
A dozen or so QO members ran at the Easter weekend tournament (the Jan Kjellstrom International Festival of Orienteering), this year held in the Midlands/ Staffordshire.
NEW: Sat 7th- extra reports added
Overall results: as a document / index form
Sue Hateley
Funeral arrangements
Together with her late husband Roger, Devon OC's Sue was a regular at our forest league events over the years. She died suddenly on 16 March.
Her funeral is at the crematorium at Barnstaple at 14.20 on 13 April. Family flowers only.
pre-JK action
Dartmoor, Bath & Lyneham
Several members booked themselves in for a spa treatment this weekend... Bath Spa University was the venue for some fast-paced orienteering action on Saturday. Then on Sunday, lucky members who made the trip to Dartmoor's Fernworthy Forest were treated to some glorious early spring weather
JOG awards & MapRun
Score challenge then social
Twenty five members, some with headtorches others hoping to get back by nightfall, took part in part in our latest course with 'invisible controls'. Afterwards, excellent achievements during the JOG season just gone were recognised with awards presented by our club president.
Club nights: reviews
