South West League
Next event: 7 April
Many QO members will be familiar with the grand old forest at Savernake, the next destination on the 'Galoppen' circuit. It was the showpiece venue for the national juniors competition (the Yvette Baker Trophy), as it is this year.
It'll also count towards the SW league.
These events are bigger than our QOFLs (Local 'forest' league) but still on a human scale and have toilets and often traders present.
See what lies in store for you throughout the season in our handy calendar (below). Venues vary from runnable forest, open hillside, moorland and mixed New Forest terrain.
On some of the better terrain in the South West, you get to rub shoulders with some of the best runners over nine events, from autumn to spring.
Between 10 and 20 QO members usually go and car sharing is popular amongst this group.
Pre-entering on Fabian 4 guarantees you a map but not all clubs offer this facility.

It's a Swedish word- but what does it mean? Is it
1) A gallop?
2) A gallop, but open to all?
3) An 'open gala' (or lavish social event)?
4) A regional league?
5) A type of elk particular to Swedish forests?
6) Who cares - lets go anyway
