Godalming Urban race
Martin Lewis and daughter Izzy (main photo) met up in Surrey last Saturday (20th) for a run that took in a good mix of urban, parkland, school buildings and woodland. Martin was impressed by the school buildings, "a bit like Hogwarts" he said. Ideal to 'Potter' around, perhaps?
The only flying car was Martin's! He zipped back for an early start the next day when he drove our team to the Compass Sport Trophy final.
Izzy's course was won by Tereza Maria Rush of Bristol OK in three quarter's of Izzy's time. Tereza was a regular at our summer MapRun series. Former QO member Gavin Clegg was second on the super vets course.
Orienteering - back to the future
Swansea Bay OC have this week resurrected a piece of creative writing from their archives. The entertaining article outlines an orienteer's vision of a future utopia (or distopia?) of our favourite sport....

A dozen plus members are going, some for the urban, some for the classic on Sunday and some for a bit of both. The 51st classic race will be at little-used Hampton Ridge on the edge of the New Forest.
The first Forest League tables of the season have been calculated.
