Several QO members competed in what was mainly marshy rough open terrain in the New Forest on Sunday. In the first south west league fixture of the season, both Brian Fletcher and Tony Hext opened their accounts with solid performances.

Our first JOG of the new season up was on a bright, warm day on the Blackdowns, with good views from the top. It attracted almost as many people as our first forest league event the previous week!

Our first Club Night of the season at Taunton's COACH centre provided training for the juniors in adjacent parkland and a series of presentations for seniors in doors. Steve Robertson's Photo O competition provided novelty and a real challenge for those brave enough to have a go

Urban orienteering
Urban specialist and junior Andrew Page continued his hectic schedule with a trip to the smoke at the weekend for a prestigious race around the Barbican area. In a larger field than usual, he was 3rd, only a few seconds off the runners-up spot. Results
