Wavering Galoppen
Fitting finale to season
A fabulous day was had up on the Mendips in very fine weather. Winscombe's busy cricket/sports ground provided a vibrant base, with cake and clothes stalls and a BBQ. Nice luxuries to help the 20 QO's recover from physical courses and a long walk to the start/finish.

Who's in the running for the trophies?
The last QOFL at Staple Hill saw a lot of runners improve their position. Only one league has been won so far, so make sure you're in it if you want to win it at Blackborough

Events & other news
Another North Gloucester event, another steep sloped hill! At least the Lewises had good training for the Wrekin at Springtime in Shropshire by venturing up to Leckhampton on Saturday (11 May).
Read Karen's entertaining write up below.
Rushmore Galoppen
South West League
With the best in the South West distracted by the British Orienteering Champs in Yorkshire, there was a good chance for the rest to gain extra points at Rushmore on Sunday. Pete Shirvington and Bill Vigar in particular each took full advantage.
Spring into action
Where next?
Though we only have one more event left this season (at Blackborough on Sat 18 May), there's still lots of action over the next two months, listed below.
These include events very nearby in Devon, on the Mendips and also Dorset.
Sue Gard,1948 - 2019
Funeral & gathering
With great sadness we learned, as all members will have by now, that Sue died recently (18 April).
Sue's funeral is this Thursday (9 May) and arrangements are detailed further below, together with a piece written by Mike Crockett.
JK 2019

Weekend of 13/14 April
Fore! The day before our Staple Hill event (Saturday 13) was a chance to run on Cleeve Hill on the Cotswolds, where runners weaved around the fairways during a golf competition being held at the same time.
JK 2019
Easter weekend
This year's international festival of orienteering is being held relatively close by (Aldershot area).
Good luck to all eighteen people going!

We will have two teams representing the club at this prestigious event being held in Hampshire on Easter Monday (22 April).
They are the QO Nearly Vets of Steve Robertson, Martin Lewis and Jeff Pakes and QO KATs of Karen Lewis, Annabelle Lewis and Tom Hasler.

League analysis
Who's in the running for the trophies? The league tables have begun to take shape but with two QOFLs left, even those who've ran just once so far have a chance. So early pacesetters are best to keep on showing up to defend their lead!
