Where next?
Though we only have one more event left this season (at Blackborough on Sat 18 May), there's still lots of action over the next two months, listed below.
These include events very nearby in Devon, on the Mendips and also Dorset.

Funeral & gathering
With great sadness we learned, as all members will have by now, that Sue died recently (18 April).
Sue's funeral is this Thursday (9 May) and arrangements are detailed further below, together with a piece written by Mike Crockett.

Easter Weekend
About 20 QO runners took part in this vibrant international competition in glorious weather. Provisional results have now been released.

Weekend of 13/14 April
Fore! The day before our Staple Hill event (Saturday 13) was a chance to run on Cleeve Hill on the Cotswolds, where runners weaved around the fairways during a golf competition being held at the same time.
JK 2019
Easter weekend
This year's international festival of orienteering is being held relatively close by (Aldershot area).
Good luck to all eighteen people going!
JK relays
We will have two teams representing the club at this prestigious event being held in Hampshire on Easter Monday (22 April).
They are the QO Nearly Vets of Steve Robertson, Martin Lewis and Jeff Pakes and QO KATs of Karen Lewis, Annabelle Lewis and Tom Hasler.

League analysis
Who's in the running for the trophies? The league tables have begun to take shape but with two QOFLs left, even those who've ran just once so far have a chance. So early pacesetters are best to keep on showing up to defend their lead!
Simplification
Training video
Focussing on the big features on the map which are easy to see on the ground helps you go faster. Less time is then spent studying irrelevant detail on the map. This skill takes a bit of practice.

We had a wonderful, sunny Spring day for the last JOG of the season at Blackbrook, primroses and blossom to be seen everywhere!

River Dart Country Park
Day out in Devon
Do event bases get any better? Beautiful grounds with all the facilities you could want in a compact area, on a sunny spring day. Seventeen made the trip and some of the QO results were as eye catching as the activity park's vibrant riverside attractions.
