Well done to Angela Modica who with husband Spencer finished 5th on the veterans' medium score course at the OMM (Original Mountain Marathon) in mixed weather in the Black Mountains in late October.
Also there was ultra runner Adrian Edwards with his long standing race partner Richie Hill.
Two dozen of us ran the Lakes 5 Days up in the Lake District.
Later in the month, Andy Rimes & Rosie Wych ran at O 5 Dias near the Picos in northern Spain.
Several members have been testing themselves further afield. Andy Rimes and Rosie Wych at O France, Adele Appleby at the World Masters in Denmark, Andrew Page in Ypres, Belgium and John Abbott in a variety of mountain marathons.
Rosie's results in Moselle (in the NE of France) were particularly impressive. She ran consistently well over the five days and her final position was 8th out of 39 in the W60 class. Full article, Results, Website
Andrew competed in the Euro sprint league at Ieper (Ypres) in early July. Despite being pitted against runners up to the age of 16, all from abroad, he was nearer the winner's time than the person finishing last.
John Abbott completed both days of the LAMM on the Isle of Harris, Scotland in early June. In early May he did two of the three days at the Great Lakeland 3 Day. We tend to see John running the Brown course on hilly, open areas, so the penny should have dropped that's this is his thing!
Congratulations to Tom Hasler and Owen Maynard, who completed their Duke of Edinburgh Ten Tors expeditions in mid May. Tom's team did the 45 mile expedition and Owen's the 35 mile one. Tom was tasked with navigating for his injury-hit team, which finished with 17 minutes to spare.
Congratulations to Brian Fletcher and his wife Vicki on the birth of their second child, Annie, at teatime on Friday 11 May.
