David Parkin 1933 - 2019
It is with sadness we announce the death of Dave on 3 February.
One of the club's earliest members, Dave soon became chairman and a long-serving one at that. His son Richard described orienteers as being his father's extended family.

Training video
Attack points
Did anyone benefit from last week's training video at Croydon Hill? With several controls on point features not far from a line feature, the area certainly lent itself to choosing a good attack point, the subject of the video here
Member benefits
Need new kit?
Did you know that your club membership entitles you to a string of discounts? A particularly good one is from a well-stocked online sports shoe retailer, which offers free postage plus a 10% discount on already heavily discounted shoes.
Longrun JOG/CATI
The Come and Try It at Longrun Meadow was a great success with many QO members coming to help newcomers and set them on their way. Have a look at the photos on the Dropbox Link below: they speak for themselves!
New video
for beginners
Liked what you saw at Saturday's "Come and Try It" event at Longrun?
UK squad member Graham Gristwood presents this clear, straightforward, fast-paced video describing the basics for those curious about or keen to see more of the sport.
Permissions

The committee are pleased to announce that our long-standing permissions officer Bob Lloyd now has an understudy, Andrew Hopkins. Andrew will take over from Bob after the AGM, when Bob retires.
New rules
for mapping & planning
Calling course planners... please be aware that BOF have issue updated rules new for 2019.
The majority of the changes also relate to mapping, in particular aligning with the relatively new mapping standard ISOM 2017.
