A glimpse into an orienteering future? This Thursday evening (16 November) we're having an After Dark Score event in Longrun Meadow using QR codes* instead of SI dibbing!

Tess and Vikki will run a warm up session at 6.30pm. Then we’ll have the half hour score event followed by some refreshments in the Park Room, where you can discuss your routes. Parents are welcome to run with their children.

Please come and bring your smart phone, if possible download the app: iOrienteering. We have a limited number of cheap smart phones to borrow. If you want me to reserve one for you, please let me know in advance.

We have attached the QR (Quick Response) codes to the Permanent Orienteering Control posts on Long Run Meadow, so if you want to try the linear course round the Meadow, download the course description from us on Thursday and have a go during the daytime.

We are hoping to put the course and the instructions on the notice board outside the Link Room for your friends to use in their own time. They can then upload their results to the iOrienteering website and compare times!

Will we be witnessing the future, with the runner providing the hardware - their smart phone - and without the SI control boxes? You decide!
