Wind Down JOG
We managed to squeeze Wind Down JOG in before the arrival of storm Ciara which, at the time of writing, is threatening to cause chaos throughout the UK.
Stock Hill
SW League
Pock-marked as it is by the lead mining of yesteryear, this area of technical woodland up on the Mendips always delights and challenges and there were several excellent runs had amongst the 25 QO's who competed there on Sunday.
Netherclay JOG
Karen Lewis our planner, made the most of a small area for the 'Fox' training exercise by having map memory for the first half of the course and a compass and pacing exercise with a virtually blank map for the second.
Orienteering for everyone
Workshop review
One of our most successful orienteers, Nathan Fernandes (who was previously a member of QO, now BOK) ran a workshop for ten orienteers interested in providing wheelchair accessible courses.

Huish Woods weekend
Senior group training
It was the club's first training weekend! So how did the senior coaching go? Sarah Pascall and Tom Hasler each give their accounts.
Plus coaching team member Richard Sansbury describes the exercises the coaches devised and got their group to try out.
Who's been where?
Glorious winter sunshine graced North Glos OC's 50th anniversary weekend and a fair number of QO's took part.
Results: Lightning Tree (Sun), Knockalls (Sat)
Also featuring: results from other events attended by QO members this year
Huish Woods JOG
This JOG was just one aspect of the first Training Weekend QO have organised.
Mark Maynard was the planner and his detailed knowledge of Huish Woods meant that he was able to use the very diverse areas to maximum advantage for each course.
Fyne Court JOG
A Fyne start
The first JOG of the Spring Term doubled up as a 'Come and Try It', which also had the effect of doubling up the attendance.
By 2pm the area was thronging with families - we hadn’t expected such a massive response!
Woodbury Common
Devon League
About 20 QO members ran at Devon's lastest league event on physically tough heathland towards the south coast near Exmouth. Ollie Rant was top QO overall, Rosie Wych won Light Green and Ollie Lewis and Al Hemmings were runners up on their courses.
Brighton City Race
QO again had representation at this annual race on the far south coast, which coincides with a spectacular festive display known as the 'Burning of the clocks'. But were there any scorching times recorded?
Martin Lewis reports.
JOG
Autumn 2019
This was one of the toughest JOG programmes imaginable, held mostly on woods and open hillside, with no visits to school campuses.
We introduced a coaching element into this series and welcomed contributions to assessing juniors' skill levels as they worked towards badges.
Exmoor Challenge
Walk & training weekends
Tom Hasler is looking to organise some club teams comprising of older school children for a long walk on Exmoor in late Spring, with some training weekends on offer in the build up.
