Our Junior Orienteering Group (JOG) runs during term-times holding low-key weekly events aimed at juniors, families and all those looking to improve or to train.
This week's event is using the MapRunF app. Download the app from your appstore (links at http://maprunners.weebly.com).

We cater from beginners through to a good club standard. We call the courses Hare, Squirrel, Badger and Fox and these offer a clear progression in the difficulty level. The Fox course incorporates adult training exercises.
To load the course of your choice into MapRun, tap on 'Select Event' then go to "UK - Somerset - JOG - Autumn 2020 - event name" and choose the one you want.
Then tap on 'Go to Start'.
The PIN is printed on the map.
Fill in the entry form to get the link to the map download folder - make sure you right click and open in a new tab. The maps will appear in the folder shortly before the event - if they aren't there yet please bookmark the link.
Due to the limit on numbers per start window to maintain social distancing, you will have to fill in a form for every participant, not just one per family.
Unlike most JOGs this series, this event is only open on the Saturday. First start 1000 and last start 1500. Due to the compressed nature of this, we are restricting it to only 6 people allowed for each 15 minute block of starts in order to maintain social distancing.
Because of the limitations of GPS in wooded and sloping areas, all controls will have a small orienteering marker to confirm you have reached the right spot. If after finding and circling the marker, at approximately a 5 to 10 metre circle, your GPS has not digitally punched, move on to the next control and let us know when you reach the finish. We can check the traces and will confirm the punch if you were clearly in the vicinity of the control.
Badger and Fox courses: remember to keep clear of the Finish punch until the end.
Safety and Risk: A comprehensive risk assessment will have been carried out by the organiser, but participants take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety during the event. All participants must report to download whether they finish their course or not.
Privacy: when participating in our events/activities your name may appear in the results section of this website or in newspaper reports. Read our data protection page to see how we look after your personal data.
Photography: QO has an agreed policy on the taking of photographs at events, based on national guidance. This provides a sensible balance between the benefits and risks associated with the taking and use of images. If you are unsure about acceptable practice, please speak to the event organiser.
Safeguarding: QO is aware of it's responsibilities in safeguarding and child protection. To comply with The Child Safeguarding Practice Review and Relevant Agency (England) Regulations 2018, we now provide an email address for individuals to report concerns to the Lead Safeguarding Officer. This address is safeguarding@britishorienteering.org.uk.
