Come and try it!
At Longrun Meadow
Would you like to try the sport for the first time or perhaps once more? Or do you know someone who might? If so, you will be made very welcome at our event on Saturday (19th), based at French Weir Park, Taunton, adjacent to Longrun Meadow.
Also featuring: MapRun
There will be plenty of members stationed around from 2pm to help you get started and debrief your 'run' afterwards.
We're using a popular country park (Longrun) and basing ourselves at the urban park adjacent to it (French Weir). We've hired out a small hall right next to the green at the COACH building there.

MapRun
We will again be demoing the exciting smartphone orienteering format, This will take place at around 4pm, after the awards presentations that follows the JOG session earlier- see the event page.
You don't have to be especially tech-savvy to make it work for you and we have courses to suit all abilities. Help will be provided and we'll have three new courses plus two courses we trialled at Club Nights.
With our next MapRun mini series starting next month, it's the ideal time to get into it.
Please bring with you:
- a GPS-enabled smartphone
- the latest version of the app pre-installed (from Google Play/ App Store)
If possible, please load up the following events when you have access to WiFi:
- French Weir Trial 1a
- Longrun Squirrel 1b
- Longrun Badger 1a
- Chip Lane 1c (used at Club Night, 2018)
- Longrun-Goodlands 2a (used at Club Night, 2018)
You can reload these later. You don't need 'data' or Wifi to run a Maprun course, just activated GPS and the app. The organiser will provide you with the PIN code you need to activate your run.
The COACH building has a WiFi signal but only upstairs.
