CST record 2009-16
Battling against the smaller clubs in our region and led by Captain Chris Hasler, we had some very good results and often finished in the top three of the heat.
2016- Cannop Ponds, Forest of Dean (BOK)
A very close result against stiff opposition! Swansea Bay went onto take Bronze in the following year's Trophy and sat just outside the top 10 of 80 UK clubs.
Cap'n Chris Hasler drove a minibus of us to the Forest of Dean to help us go toe to toe with two teams from South Wales. Heather Green and Gavin Clegg both won their classes.
There were some notable sub plots, including some sibling chivalry...Chris' son Tom was actually leading the Orange boys' race by several minutes by the second control. There he found his distraught sister Eleanor, who was unable to find #1 on her course, so he ran the rest of the course with her at her pace, still finishing third. Had he left her to it and won the Orange, he would have scored full points for the club and we would have finished second overall. Meanwhile mum Sarah stepped up two levels to run the women's Green course and in a technical area on a much harder course, finished above some seasoned QO campaigners!

3 | Sarum | 1251 |

5 | North Wilts (NWO) | 1149 |
6 | Cornwall (KERNO) | 646 |
A great result, with a team superbly organised by our captain Chris Hasler. We beat the mighty Sarum on their home turf! Putting our performance into perspective, just three months previously, Sarum had finished 3rd in the national finals and Wimborne 4th. Everyone played their part, with just one point between us and Sarum. To the relief of all, a post-event doping test on the jelly babies Chris was handing out at the start proved negative.
2014- Hay Tor, Dartmoor (Devon)
1 | Sarum | 1284 |
2 | South Wales (SWOC) | 1246 |
3 | Quantock (QO) | 1227 |
4 | Swansea Bay (SBOC) | 1169 |
5 | Cornwall (KERNO) | 1037 |
6 | University of Bristol (UBOC) | 185 |
A great turnout on a sunlit Dartmoor. Star of the day was Fiona Boyd, our newest senior member at the time, who whistled round the Women's Blue course and top-scored with 99 points. Our president Mike stormed the Vets course, scoring 97. The only sour note was Tony Milroy suffered a nasty knee ligament injury sustained when he fell into a quarry. Thankfully he was found by a runner from another club and whisked away by helicopter.
