What a glorious day! Sunshine all the way and great courses.
We had a really good turn out at Wellington School and the smiles were as sunny as the weather. The courses were challenging and varied with lots of controls, the positioning of one at the top of some stairs puzzled a few and provided a lesson in remembering to look at control descriptions!! As well as open areas where fast runners could gain time, there was the chance to try some urban style navigation around the buildings where brain work and concentration came to the fore. What other sport can offer so much fun, exercise and learning for anyone of any age?!
Thanks to Miffy and Simon for their hard work on the courses, to Judy and Roger for their constant support and to Sara, Diogo, Graham, Tony, and Linda for collecting controls.
Our Junior Orienteering Group (JOG) runs during term times holding low-key weekly events aimed at juniors, families, and all those looking to improve or train. Newcomers are always welcome.
Non-members are very welcome. If you like it and want to join, read about joining QO here.
Parking will be at the Prep School by the Sports Hall w3w state.clips.poetry or https://maps.app.goo.gl/n2Cyvijy3qoFvxkp8
We cater from beginners through to a good club standard. We call the courses Hare, Squirrel, Badger, and Fox and these offer a clear progression in the difficulty level. The Fox course usually incorporates adult training exercises.
Hare to Badger usually uses PIN punching. Fox is sometimes PIN punching and sometimes GPS punching. The latter is also automatically uploaded to Routegadget.
Course lengths are as follows:
Depending on route choice, the Fox course could require two five bar gates to be climbed
Please consider buying a pack of pre-entry credits in advance. This costs you the same but saves the club a lot in credit card fees.
Starts from 1.30pm. No starts after 2.30pm. Controls collected 3pm.
Registration is outside the swimming pool, across the road (South Street), and we have access to the toilets in the swimming pool building.
No dogs allowed
