Organiser comments from Karen:
Yet again we were very lucky with the weather - it was dry and not too cold. However, the area was extremely muddy and very slippery by the end of the session.
The courses were enjoyed by all. Although, a couple of runners struggled with a couple of control points and ran out of time.
The fox did not have any lines between the numbers and this seemed to throw some of the runners even the more experienced.
Competitors rolled or slipped back and, even covered in mud, were happy with their runs
Well done to all those that took part.
Once again, our thanks go to Sue for planning and Ray for controlling today’s events.
Also, a big thank you to Adele for helping today.
Our Junior Orienteering Group (JOG) runs during term times holding low-key weekly events aimed at juniors, families, and all those looking to improve or train. Newcomers are always welcome.
Non-members are very welcome. If you like it and want to join, read about joining QO here.
Hilly area near Stoke Saint Mary with plenty of runnable paths through mature woodland, broadleaf plantations and open grassy areas. Small lake and excellent views. Parking in small car park (limited) or on roadside. Nearest toilets at Hankridge Way Sainsburys (TA1 2LR - 2 miles).
The area is small and well contained so could be good for children wishing to try the next level up. The badger and fox courses employ multiple direction changes and the fox has an additional twist to keep it sufficiently challenging! This area is muddy and, in places, very slippery. O shoes or studded shoes are recommended.
We cater from beginners through to a good club standard. We call the courses Hare, Squirrel, Badger, and Fox and these offer a clear progression in the difficulty level. The Fox course usually incorporates adult training exercises.
Hare 1.1 km
Squirrel 1.3 km
Badger 2.0 km
Fox 2.9 km

Entries close 10 pm on the 28th of January.
Please consider buying a pack of pre-entry credits in advance. This costs you the same but saves the club a lot in credit card fees.
