Welcome to our Long O section...

Long O's are now a dying breed. Our Long O offered an early season opportunity for those looking for the challenge of something a bit longer than an orienteering course, often across open moors. It's status as an annual event ceased in 2017 because of gradually reducing numbers and manpower.

It is hoped that some sort of offering will continue albeit at less frequent intervals, possibly using the MapRun app and without the organisational burden of a registered event day.

Other Long O's

Long O fixtures nationwide (BOF)

Wrekin OC have an annual event (c. mid September) in Shropshire

South Ribble OC tend towards an event every other year, often in the Lake District.

Although billed as a Long O, British Army OC's occasional event is more like a standard orienteering course. The latest was at Ash Ranges in Aldershot on 2 Jan 2019.
