Day two of our back to back weekend of events takes us to North Devon and the stupendous technical challenge of Braunton Burrows. This is a level B national event organised and managed by QO with grateful assistance from our friends at Devon Orienteering who are also providing loan of their area for the event.
Two public carparking areas to be used (shared with the public). One is approximately 500m walk from assembly, the other approximately 3km. Priority parking at the closer of the two will be given to vehicles carrying very young and/or elderly competitors.
19 age class based courses from M/W10 to M/W90 according to BOF level B regional championship rules.
In addition, we will provide white, yellow, orange and light green colour coded non-championship courses

Highly intricate and complex sand dunes with fine contour detail and features offering high quality technical navigational challenges. Some areas of easier open ground and unvegetated sandy areas provide faster running. Variable vegetation from impenetrable gorse and thorn to open grass (and everything in between) demands constant changes of direction and speed. The entire area is however covered in a complex network of paths and tracks which can aid (or hinder if misread) navigation through the complex terrain.
Dogs, on leads at all times, are strictly limited to the car parks and assembly area only, not on any course.
toilets and shelter tent at assembly. No catering vans have been permitted as part of the access arrangements imposed by the landowners.
The terrain is a national biosphere and SSSI with very rare flora and fauna necessitating stringent access requirements and limitations on entry numbers across all courses to 400 total. Once this number is reached in the pre-entry system, no further entries will be accepted unless there are subsequent withdrawals.

Insurance: Please note: Participants who are not members of British Orienteering are not covered by British Orienteering’s public liability insurance. By entering this event, you acknowledge that you are taking part at your own risk. For example, if you were to accidentally injure a member of the public or damage property during the event, you would not be covered.
Safety and Risk: A comprehensive risk assessment will have been carried out by the organiser, but participants take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety during the event. All participants must report to download whether they finish their course or not.

Photography: QO has an agreed policy on the taking of photographs at events, based on national guidance. This provides a sensible balance between the benefits and risks associated with the taking and use of images. If you are unsure about acceptable practice, please speak to the event organiser. Photos taken may be retained beyond the 2 year window for legacy purposes.
