QO success at the Yvette Baker 2026!
Nine juniors travelled to Swansea Bay to represent Quantock Orienteers at the National Final of the Yvette Baker shield on Saturday 4th July. Everyone in the team did super well.
Most had never competed in an event of this size before and the confidence and commitment shown by all was amazing. Despite the challenge of seriously overgrown areas making paths indistinct, everyone completed their course, with no missed controls and excellent times. Most importantly, everyone enjoyed themselves and there were big smiles all round. It was a great opportunity, and each team member was awarded a certificate for competing in a NATIONAL FINAL! Well done Ollie, Freddie, Diogo, Deeyana, Minnie, Boris, Theo, Sidney and Maisie.
Of course, we had to get through the regional heat first and we would not have done so without the other team members who were unable to make the final – Finley, Dylan, Sara and Bea. That makes a total team of thirteen juniors all supported by their amazing parents.
They are all stars and have done QO proud!
