On the bonfire night evening Gavin Clegg was competing in the Vir’É Nocturne – Vir’King Raid, held in Vire Normandy. Part urban, part countryside and part forest of which some bits were that steep that knotted ropes had been laid out to give you something to haul yourself up with!!

Basically a free time score event, Gavin and Ian Sayer from Wessex (it has to be run in pairs) came 17th out of 72 in 3hrs 17mins. Gavin and Ian were by far the eldest competitors (European running demographic is much younger than the UK).

The next day was the annual November Classic on a cold bright day in the New Forest near Stoney Cross. Seven QO’s competed: Bill Vigar 5th M80, Adele Appleby 9th W50, Roger Craddock +1 10th on Orange, Pete Akers 13th on Green, Tony Hext 40th M65, Jeff Pakes 14th M40 and Matt Knipe 36th M50.
