Lockdown Team event

Last edited: Sun 17 May 2020

A QO team finished ahead of two teams from 2018 Compass Sport Cup winners South Yorkshire Orienteers (SYO) in the Lockdown Team weekend. We may have only been using mice, PCs and phones, but any win over one of the UK's mightiest clubs counts, doesn't it?

Tom Hasler shone but all played their part. They were: Phil Sorrell, Richard Sansbury, Angela Modica, Sarah Pascall and Jeff Pakes.

If you'd like to keep up with the Lockdown action, feel free to pop along to the QO chat site...not least find out whose phone died mid-race and what games drove which normally pleasant mannered people to swearing.

What was it?

Lockdown Orienteering are doing a team competition next week:

  • 7 stages (challenges) over 7 days
  • 7 in a team/5 in a junior team
  • You compete individually then add up your scores within the team

The stages

We call each challenge a “stage”. The provisional 7 stages are:

  • Street View orienteering
  • Control description game
  • Spot the Difference
  • Route choice game
  • Laby: The Maze!
  • Photo memory orienteering
  • Trail-O

Phil says: "I would like to take part, and I sure both kids would like to have another go after taking part in the World Orienteering Event this week."
