With real orienteering cancelled, Lockdown Orienteering describes itself as providing "orienteering competitions on your sofa".

The organisers say, "We wanted to create an orienteering challenge anyone could take part in from their home – and so Lockdown Orienteering was born: a series of online challenges to test your orienteering skills and knowledge against people from anywhere in the world, while you wait for real orienteering to return."

Part of the attraction was coming up against world class orienteers and even watching them make horrendous mistakes!

Phil's weakest stage may have been the veteran 3D O simulation Catching Features (CF). If Phil needed a coach, perhaps he could look no further than QO's resident CF expert Brian Pearson? Brian was genuine international class in the discipline during its early days, quite possibly making the world top 100.

Steve Robertson and Richard Sansbury also took part.

The next competition is running from Wednesday 13 to Saturday 16 May.
