Broadstone Park in Poole was the destination on a muggy Sunday with another great club turnout at the latest South West summer series relay.

The Toomer-Macpherson family provided two teams for the junior relay, in Dorset, with Ray and Sue captaining a boys and a girls team consisting of themselves and their grandchildren. They seem to have got round their courses pretty fast and thankfully the format was flexible enough to allow these mixed teams to take part.

Our senior team of Steve Robertson, Jim Mallinson and Roger Dickey on competed in both the veteran relay against a team from Sarum, which they won and at the same time, the senior relay.

With age handicapping applied, it appears as if our senior team finished 4th out of 11 in the latter contest. Yet again this week, the only clubs to beat us were those expected to do so: the champions from the current and the previous summer series, Bristol and Wessex. Being the home club, Wessex were able to field three pretty strong teams and their B team were 3rd. Better still for Wessex, that club won its first relay of the season, Bristol having wrapped up the title last week by winning the other four. We look to have secured third place in the series, a good result: we're a good few points ahead of Sarum but some way behind Wessex.

Well done to all our teams.
