British Championships 2017
Long distance race
Congratulations to Bill Vigar M80 for finishing runner up in the British Orienteering Championships in the Lake District. Runners had to master the challenges posed by the mixed forest and open areas of High Dam posed but were blessed with fine weather.
The prestigious event used terrain adjoining the Finswthwaite Valley in the South Lakes, which boasted some lovely wooded hillside.
Also running was Matthew Knipe, who seems to have got good value for money for his long trip up to the Lakes. He doggedly stuck to his task and got round the long course in over four hours. With plenty of retiring and mispunching, this left Matthew a decent 46th out of 57 in a class won by BOK's Clive Hallett in 68 minutes.
