Streets, parkland & an ancient forest
Forty QO and JOG members headed to an event outside our county this Sunday! There was an abundance of action: the junior team event at Savernake, an urban race at Amesbury and a Devon League event within the National Trust grounds at Knightshayes.
Amesbury urban
Andrew Page M12 finished 3rd out of 12 in the Young Junior Men category. Losing five minutes at control 3 was crucial to his hopes of winning- he finished four and a half minutes behind the winner.
Pete Shirvington also took part. Taking 53 minutes, he was only 13 minutes behind the winner Richard Barrett in the Veteren Men category.

Bristol urban
On Wednesday 3 May, BOK (Bristol) hosted one of their summer series events at the Stoke Bishop University Halls, in which three QO members attended. They were: Richard Sansbury, Graham Hartley and Tony Hext. Graham came third on the Green course, with a time of 35:31.
Although he wasn’t first or second at any time during the race, he did maintain a steady position from around the fifth of sixth control onwards.

Knightshayes - Devon League Event
The pleasant grounds of the National Trust property near Tiverton provided a more local alternative to the bigger event at Savernake Forest. We had double figures for QO and JOG members attending, many of whom are relatively new to the club! One was Matthew Carter M40 finishing runner up on the Green course, just a minute behind Devon's Tom Perry. Matthew's GPS route is pictured. Oliver Lewis and company finished 3rd out of 8 on the Orange.
Savernake Forest- Galoppen & Yvette Baker Trophy
