Events round-up

3/4 June & coming soon

Published: Wed 31 May 2017

A dozen or so QO members and JOG-goers were at a sodden Woodbury Common in Devon on Sunday. Several of those going are also going to the Scottish 6 Days- maybe they were trying to keep in practice and get used to the rain!

Besides running at Woodbury near the South coast, Matt Carter had visited NGOC's event at scenic Minchinhampton Common in Gloucestershire the previous day. Getting round a fast-paced Green course (map pictured) in comfortably under an hour, he almost made the top third in a field of 60.

Conversely, Woodbury was a slog for many of those attending. This might be illustrated by Matt taking 20 minutes more in Devon yet still improving on his position at NGOC's event, finishing 5th out of 25.

Some of those heading to the "Scottish" this summer look to be running into good form. Karen Lewis, with Annabel finished 3rd on Orange at Woodbury. On Green, Tony Hext finished 3rd and Bill Vigar 8th.

Coming soon

Wessex OC have asked us to remind those interested in urban orienteering about their Poole town race on Sunday 18 June. Wessex say the action will be fast and technical, with an intricate network of alleyways (in the old town), streets and parkland and Poole Quay will feature too. See the flier. Entries on Fabian.
