On Sunday, QO members descended on Longrun Meadow and French Weir Park for the annual club championships.

Well, wasn't it lovely to get back to some semblance of normal orienteering?

The club turned out in force for the event. The new socially-distanced start and finish were in place and the online pre-registration went well.

The rain mostly held off for the actual runs, but those setting up in the morning got rather damp! Still, it meant the going was fresh and some fast paces were achieved.

As an odds and evens score event it turned the tables on some of our fastest runners. The extra guile over the decision-making helped the more experienced storm to victory.

Many thanks to Jim Mallinson for planning such a good course. It had just the right amount of challenge - it made you think but wasn't a massive shock after such a long break. Everyone looked suitably tired as they reached the finish after their allotted hour!
