Crowcombe Heathfield Event - Controllers Comments:

What a fantastic spring day! Good to see a lot of new people coming today. I hope your first experience of orienteering was to your liking. I'm afraid its not always so sunny, but we hope to see you again whatever the weather.

I've always thought of Crowcombe as a tough area so I was keen to make sure the courses were relatively short. From the results it looks like we got it about right. Because of the narrow width of the wood, orange and light green went through similar areas on the return route as on the outward leg but we managed to avoid having the same control sites for each direction. Its a shame that only the blue had the length to get into the north end because some of the best runnable areas are up there.

I'm sorry that some of you were unable to do the yellow course, it was my decision to close the yellow course for most of the day. The 4x4 drivers were nice and cooperative enough, but it was clear that the yellow course could not share the same tracks with vehicles. I was happy for the other courses to proceed through the area, although inevitably there had to be some interference. I'm glad you all managed - thanks for being understanding.
