Croydon Hill Regional Event - Organisers Comments:

I'm glad the event happened - it was looking improbable earlier in the week. I was at the farm the previous weekend and it looked totally different. It was beautiful, as you can see from the photos below, but inaccessible by a normal car. In fact the farmers themselves were snowed in for several days. We carefully followed the forecast and saw that a thaw was coming just in time, which avoided us having to postpone. In the event it was a surprisingly mild day, with the wet ground the only evidence of the snow that had been there just 2 days before.

We were very fortunate to have the full cooperation of the tenants at Broadwood Farm. They were very obliging, moving their animals around to suit us and allowing us to churn up the parking field. They are very involved in the transition farm movement and all the money you paid for parking will be spent on wildflower seeds for the orchard and hedges on the land.

This was the highest profile event put on by QO since we hosted a Compass Sport Cup qualifier in 2005. I must admit to being a bit disappointed in the low turnout. We've covered our costs but I feel a bit sorry for Andy and Lew that there were not more people to appreciate their hard work putting together all 12 courses.

Hope to see you at another QO event sometime.
