Planners Comments

It was many years ago that we last organized an Avon Schools event at Cothelstone Hill and we found then that starting from the field in the NW corner worked well for the short courses and parking. The public car park has been full to overflowing at weekends during the winter. I apologize for the mistake on the Green course which arose because of a rush at the last minute. The earlier starts were disadvantaged, but the first Green runner back volunteered to help collect controls - many thanks, Richard! We discussed the results at Committee and decided the scoring should stand. I think the course lengths were about right, if a little physical on the senior ones. Once again numbers on the courses other than Green were disappointing, possibly a reflection of the weather.

Thanks to Ted for controlling sympathetically, and to Mr Warmington for the use of his land and parking field.

FINAL QOFL RESULTS   from Tony Milroy  01278-427875

Congratulations to the winners of the different colours:-

Elite Green - Mike Crockett

Green - Susan Hateley (Devon)

Light Green - Joy York

Orange - Alasdair York

Yellow - Joel Llewellyn

The winners will receive their awards at the post-Club Championships buffet on Saturday14th June at The Masons Arms, Lower Oddcombe – hopefully they will all be able to be present.

Some degree of commiseration go to Andy Rimes (Elite Green), Mary Buckland (Light Green) and Richard York (Yellow) who all led going into the final event but were pipped to the post. There’s always next year…….!

Congratulations should go to the five competitors who ran in all six QOFL’s:-

Dan and Emily Craddock (White) and Mark Larcombe, Mike Kite and D.Gray (Green). It was nice to see some healthy competition in the ‘Green’ classes and one can only hope that next season there will be more youngsters competing in the Orange and Yellow classes.

Thanks must go to Chris Philip who put forward the idea of splitting the Green class up so that there was fairer competition in those divisions created. If anyone has any comments or suggestions about the QOFL system I would be very pleased to hear from you.
