Changes to the Line

The line between controls is normally a straight, direct route. it si sued to work out the course length.

There are some situations where this needs to be tweaked.

Out of Bounds Areas and Uncrossable Boundaries

The line must not cross OOBs or uncrossable boundaries.

With an uncrossable boundary with only one way though, the line should be bent to go through it.

If there are multiple ways through the uncrossable boundary, then break the line at the boundary.

Similarly, if there is only one way around an OOB area, bend the line past it.

And if it is reasonable for the competitor to pass the OOB on either side, then break the line.

Improving Map Clarity

Sometimes the line obscures an important detail.

Often the line obscures a large section of path. This is particularly common on Hare courses. The easiest way to fix this is to shift the line to one side.

Sometimes, the line obscures a small feature you may think is useful. You can add a gap in the line to reveal it.
