JOG Autumn 2020 Series Info

Our Junior Orienteering Group (JOG) runs during term-times holding low-key weekly events aimed at juniors, families and all those looking to improve or to train. There are volunteers on hand to help you from 1400 to about 1530 on the advertised Saturdays.

Social Distancing

  • Consult the current government guidelines about travel.
  • Do not go if you have any symptoms of COVID-19.
  • Wash your hands throughly before going out.
  • Park carefully, avoiding getting too close to others.
  • If someone is already at a control, wait.
  • Overtake carefully. Perhaps wait for wide grassed areas instead of trying to do it on a narrow path.
  • Be respectful to other users of the area.
  • Wash your hands as soon as possible afterwards.

  • See our map printing guidance for best results printing your own map.
  • To load the course of your choice into MapRun, tap on 'Select Event' then go to "UK - Somerset - JOG - Autumn 2020 - event name" and choose the one you want.
  • Then tap on 'Go to Start'.
  • The PIN is printed on the map.

Course Information

We cater from beginners through to a good club standard. We call the courses Hare, Squirrel, Badger and Fox and these offer a clear progression in the difficulty level. The Fox course incorporates adult training exercises.

Entry Details

  • Own time - Free but you have to print your own map.
  • 1400-1500 Saturday - £1 per person but you get a printed copy of the map and can borrow an SI dibber and compass.

Registration & Start Times

You have two choices for participating:

  • Using MapRun6 with GPS punching - start any time over the weekend.
  • Using SI start/finish and pin punching - start between 1400 and 1500 on Saturday.

Please register using the form below so you are covered by British Orienteering's insurance. If starting in the 1400-1500 slot, you can register in person if that is easier.
