Summer relay series

Sign up for a team

Last edited: Fri 16 Jun 2017

Those running at Ashton Court, Bristol: see our Event page (NEW). We're recruiting teams for the rest of the series too. We can put you in a suitable team, running a course appropriate for your age and ability. Let us know which relays you'd like to run in: Link to Relays poll

The poll described above is not a one-off exercise- it allows you to change your dates if your availability changes. If you have any queries please contact our series captain Brian Pearson. Brian's details are on our Contacts page.

Hopefully we can have one or more teams representing the club at each of the forthcoming Sunday summer relays throughout the South West.

We need more diversity though! MAMILs (= Middle Aged Man In Lycra) dominate- we currently have 10 of these signed up to run but unfortunately no females, no families and no juniors.

Venues vary tremendously, including woods, open moorland (Devon), country and urban parks and grounds of stately homes or large rural schools. Toilets are available at most events.

Everyone is welcome to sign up for a team. The more the merrier, as we can register as many teams as we like. Having a B or a C team allows newer or less confident members to get used to the new experience, terrain and format. There is often an opportunity to run a leg or a course of a middling or low technical difficulty (i.e. Orange or Yellow). Families can also run together as a team if they wish.

All six relays are on Sundays. There will be relays on five consecutive Sundays starting at the next event in Bristol.

On-the-day captains

Brian has appointed an on-the-day captain for each event from those that have signed up for that event so far. That person will be responsible for selecting and entering the team(s), co-ordinating the transport arrangements and devising a plan of who runs each leg.
