Mountain Marathons

A Mountain Marathon on Dartmoor, 2010

Several of our members take part in a variety of adventure races further afield. These are variously known as mountain marathons, ultras, fell running...and sometimes a Long O, the orienteering world's version of a mountain marathon.

Winning juniors Kid Pro QO

Double success

We had two triumphs in the rolling grounds of Knightshayes NT on Sunday. Our leading senior team Status QO won the Byfoot trophy awarded on a handicap basis. Kid Pro QO won the junior trophy.

Planners' course

Ten QO members who had had experience planning JOG courses were invited to two sessions about planning QOFL courses on areas selected by themselves from QO areas.

Richard, Tom & Chris flew the flag for QO at the first SWOA relay event of the season on Sunday, over at Badbury Hill, nr. Swindon.

They finished a creditable 4th out of 10 SWOA teams.

The extended Lewis family had a good excuse to meet up this weekend - an urban double header happening quite close by to newest member Karl Manley. Karl was joined by Martin, Annabelle and Ollie, who enjoyed a first place finish on Day 1.

Swansea Bay weekend
