JK 2009

The event this year had a sprint race in the centre of Newcastle on Good Friday. Five QO members competed and the best placed were Jim Mallinson 7th on M60 Brian Fletcher 6th on M35 and Mike Crockett 4th on M70. We thoroughly enjoyed it and I was reasonably satisfied with my result, unlike the individual days when small mistakes and lack of concentration resulting in one big one were catastrophic. The best result from QO was Brian Fletcher 3rd on day 3 on M35S.

The event was well run and very enjoyable thanks to the glorious weather. However one family must have thought otherwise as the fridge in their brand new (09) camper van caught fire, necessitating the attendance of the local fire brigade. It must have been quite a shock to come back from their run to find an official guarding the broken down door and a blackened side to the van.
