Final preparations (10 March)

Dear QO team member,

I hope you are looking forward to Sunday. Unfortunately weather forecast is a bit wet but I'm sure we'll still have a good time! Please have a look at the final details: http://www.wimborne-orienteers.co.uk/d7/node/126 If you have some time, why not give yourself an advantage by studying the map, you can do this by looking the last event at Moors Valley on Routegadget: http://www.wim.routegadget.co.uk/rg2/#50 Please be careful to use the right dibber. I will be there early to collect the hired dibbers, so come and find me in the QO club tent and collect these from me. We had a few last minute additions, the full team is listed in order of start time (see email of Fri 10th). Don't forget others can come and enter on the day for non-competitive white, yellow and light green courses. See you there!

Richard

Richard's original message

I am coordinating QO's entry to the this year's CompassSport Trophy competition, as you may have already seen. This is a convivial occasion in which all of us can take part and do our bit for our club. The CompassSport Trophy is a mass-participation orienteering competition with a format allows everyone to compete at their own level, yet almost everybody will contribute to a club score. You just need to be able to run at orange level and above, whether adult or junior. There are also non-competitive junior courses on offer (White, Yellow and Light Green) to make it a family day out.

So I invite all club members, whatever your experience or ability, to come along for the day trip to Moors Valley Country Park near Ringwood on Sunday 12th March. The club will pay half the £10 entry fee, and we can arrange to share the travel costs. I know the venue is a bit further away than usual, but the benefit is that this year's final is close to home in Dartmoor, so all we need to do is simply beat KERNO, Wessex and the hosts Wimborne to get through to the final!

What I would like from you at this is to reply to me at richard.sansbury@btinternet.com to say if you would like to join in. Also if possible please say:

  1. Whether you would be willing to run the designated course for your age class (click on the link), or even whether you would be willing to "run up", i.e. do a harder course than the one assigned
  2. Whether you have a strong preference for a start time (times range from 10:30 to 12:30)
  3. Finally say if you would like a lift or are willing to offer a lift.

Thanks.

Richard Sansbury
